HOW I SPENT MY BIRTHDAY

How I Spent My Birthday

“Every year on your birthday, you get a chance to start new.” – Sammy Hager

how I spent my birthday

My actual birthday was on the 16th of April. (Yes! Just yesterday!!) I had put together a list of activities to celebrate: an intimate dinner with friends, a Giveaway on Instagram, a special dinner with my family, and more. But, last minute, I decided against doing all of that. That was not how I wanted to spend my birthday. My heart yearned for me to be alone. And that was what I did.

Birthdays are one of the few milestone events that cause me to run into my ‘shell’ and reflect on my life and yesterday was no different. I took a break from work and everything else to sit and ’take stock’. I thought about my life in general, how far I have come, and all the things I want to do for myself. Not for others. This was the most beautiful gift I could have given to myself. To give me the space to reflect, think clearly without any distractions, and make the best decisions about my life.

Now that that has been taken care of, I look forward to doing all the things I had initially wanted to do…especially dinner with my friends and loved ones. Because no birthday is complete without a little celebration, no matter how little.
