A Letter to My Future Self

“We have always held to the hope, the belief, the conviction that there is a better life, a better world, beyond the horizon.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt

Dear Future Me,

I’m writing to you from the middle of an ambitious experiment—a 90-day challenge that’s pushing me to my limits in the best possible way. Every day, I attempt to walk 10,000 steps (some days I achieve the 10,000 mark, some days I don’t) and write, documenting this journey in real-time. The goal is simple: to improve my health and elevate my career. But as I look ahead, I wonder what will happen if I keep going, if I push past the 90 days and make this more than just a temporary pursuit. I’m curious about the person you’ll become, the opportunities you’ll create, and the dreams you’ll realise if you stay committed to this path.

What Am I Doing Right Now?

I can’t explain but I’ve established a routine around these goals to write and walk daily. It’s not much but I think that I’m planting seeds, day by day, word by word, step by step. I imagine you looking back at this moment, not as a turning point, but as the beginning of a profound transformation. You know, the kind that starts subtly and grows into something you never could have anticipated.

The writing habit is already changing the way I see the world. Every day, I’m finding new stories to tell, and new insights to explore. Imagine the body of work you’ll have created if you continue—essays, articles, maybe even a book. You’ll look back and see that these 90 days were just the warm-up, the rehearsal before the real performance began.

And the walking—it’s more than just exercise. It’s a moving meditation, a chance to clear your head and connect with your thoughts. If you keep this up, you’ll have built a body that’s not only healthier and stronger but also a mind that’s sharper, more focused, and infinitely more creative. You’ll have created a space where ideas flow freely, where solutions to problems come to you effortlessly, like catching a wave at just the right moment.

I Am Struggling To Be Consistent.

Consistency has always been a big problem for me…for you. Right now, I’m trying hard to prove to you that you can show up every day, no matter what. If I keep going, this habit of showing up will seep into every aspect of my life…and invariably yours too. I imagine you being the person who always delivers, who meets every deadline, who turns out work that’s not just good, but exceptional. That’s who I’m working hard for you to become, day by day.

Imagine the opportunities this will unlock. People will start to notice your dedication, and your ability to commit to something bigger than yourself. New career possibilities will open up—perhaps a dream job you’ve always wanted or a collaboration that takes your work to the next level. You’ll be seen not just as someone who can write, but as someone who can lead, inspire, and drive change. Did I succeed in getting you there?

Anyway, I’ll Keep Documenting the Journey.

I’m going out of my comfort zone to document this journey so that you’ll have a record of your growth, a living, breathing testament to what’s possible when you decide to go all in. I hope that you continue documenting your growth. Keep sharing your story, and it will resonate with others. You’ll build a community, a network of people who are inspired by your journey and who want to support you in reaching even greater heights.

Imagine the impact you could have if you continued. You’ll become a voice for those who are also striving for more, who want to push past their limits and live a life that’s richer, fuller, and more meaningful. Your story will be proof that it’s possible to change, to build new habits, and to create a life that reflects your deepest values and aspirations.

My Hope Beyond The 90 Days Of This Challenge.

So, what happens after 90 days? That’s up to you. You could let this challenge end and move on to something else. Or, you could keep going, keep building, keep growing. If you choose the latter, the possibilities are limitless.

Picture yourself a year from now, looking back on this moment. You’ve continued to write every day, and your work has evolved in ways you couldn’t have imagined. Maybe you’ve published a collection of essays, launched a podcast, or built an online community around your ideas. Your health has improved, too. You’re not just walking; you’re hiking, running, exploring new places, and feeling stronger and more alive than ever.

Your daughter is watching, too. She sees your commitment, your passion, your dedication. She learns from you that growth isn’t just something you talk about—it’s something you do, day in and day out. She sees that it’s okay to struggle, to feel uncertain, to not have all the answers. Because you’re showing her that what matters isn’t having a perfect plan, but taking the next step, and then the next, and trusting that the path will reveal itself as you go.

I Hope You Build A Life You’re Proud Of.

I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know this: if you keep going, if you keep writing and walking and pushing yourself to grow, you’ll create a life you’re proud of. You’ll look back and see that these habits weren’t just about improving your career or your health—they were about becoming the person you always knew you could be.

So, when the 90 days are up, I hope you don’t stop. I hope you see this not as an end, but as the beginning of something extraordinary. Keep going, keep building, keep dreaming. Because the future you’re creating is bright, bold, and limitless.

With hope, love and anticipation,

Your Present Self.
